New Year, New Goals – Or New Headaches? 😫

In our society, the hustle and bustle mentality is often revered as the best way to achieve success. It’s discussed in the workplace and demonstrated on social media sites, self-help books, and even in our music.

Once one of the most popular songs in our society, “Empire State of Mind” demonstrates the beauty of the ability to rewrite your story 100x by reminding you that “there is nothing you can’t do,” even amid the busy city. But over the years, I have come to realize that while re-invention is beneficial, it can also tax one’s well-being.

Constantly having to re-invent yourself proves that you’re resilient, but it can also cause headaches as you try to find a new version of yourself every time the New Year strikes.

Listen, I am not here to say that the concept of a “New Year, New Me” is a bad idea. But does anyone else become exhausted by the process?

If so, this post is for you. If not, don’t worry.

Come back next week, and we will have something more relatable.

Tonight’s post reminds us that while society pressures the beginning of the New Year with expectations of drastic changes and resolutions, you don’t have to succumb to it.

Instead, you can decide for yourself what the New Year will bring. Don’t worry if you need ideas. There are enough articles, social media posts, or discussions with your homegirls to help you create a vision for 2025.

Embrace the joy of setting realistic goals, and don’t worry if your vision isn’t perfect. The focus should be on progressing towards your vision, filling you with optimism and hope for the future.

In our 21-Day Adulthood Mastery challenge, we have been exploring fear, discipline, clarity, and discernment. These four topics have helped us develop visions for the year that aren’t about crossing everything off our vision boards but instead about building a version of ourselves we can be proud of.

It’s okay to feel overwhelmed with the multitude of goals for the new year. But remember, patience is key. Fulfilling your vision board requires time and effort.

Rome was not built in a day, so your empire will take time, and that’s okay! Don’t get caught comparing your journey to what you see on social media or in magazines because your winning season is here, too.

Everyone’s winning season looks different.

And if we get caught up in society’s thought process that everything must be perfect, we won’t make it far. Instead, we will get stuck in doubt, fear of failure, disappointment, and imposter syndrome.

That won’t work for 2025!

Instead, we have to redefine what it means to have an “Empire State of Mind.” It’s not about the hustle-and-bustle mindset; it’s about building from the ground up with grace, patience, and faith that things will work in due time.

My ‘Empire State of Mind’ for 2025 includes ‘Godfidence ‘, a winning mindset that comes from faith in God and confidence in His plan, knocking down boundaries, preparing for a harvest, and setting goals that honor who I am, who I was, and where I am trying to go.

What’s your “Empire State of Mind” for 2025?
