Chapter 10: It’s Giving Independent Grown Woman Sumer Vibes!

Elevation Series Part 3!

With monumental decisions in the Supreme Court just last week, Beyoncé telling us we should never let anyone break our souls, money to be made, dreams to conquer, and BIG Latto telling us never to let them play us like we average!

I don’t know about y’all but our moment has yet again risen for the world to hear us and accomplish what we have been hoping to do!

Because in Summer 2022, We are Outside! 

We are becoming the Independent Grown Women we seek to be and marching to our own beats!

Shutting down the Internet with all of our powerful moves and basking in the beauty the sun offers us!

Summer 2022 is giving Black Women Boss Vibes!

So, ladies, go ahead and prepare because we are about to turn up this summer, break barriers, and shut down Instagram!  

Because like I said, we are OUTSIDE! 

So, while we are basking in this opportunity to live our best Hot Girl Summer, don’t forget to live your best Independent Grown Woman summer as well! 

Therefore, love, don’t forget to let your hair down and live your best life because the best is yet to come! 

I kicked off Summer 2022, living my best life by returning to my alma mater to graduate (FINALLY) as a member of the class of 2020!

And, baby, I lived my best life…. Basking in the final few moments of college and embracing the ending of a chapter well served! 

For 48 hours, I partied hard, reconnected with people I hadn’t seen in almost two years, and finally crossed the stage I had been dreaming of crossing since I was a little girl!

And, y’all, all it taught me was that I have to continue to live the best life I can because after you put endless hours, tears, and multiple “pretend” dropouts, it’s time to celebrate the wins you have and start working towards the next bag you hope to secure!

And my next bag is Summer 2022! 

I plan on trying new things, stepping out of my comfort zone, and entering new territories I never thought I could because those who work hard deserve the best!

We deserve top-tier treatment and nothing less!

So, you may ask what an Independent Grown Woman Summer looks like, and baby, it’s SIMPLE!

It’s whatever you desire it to look like because you’re in your own lane and paving your own path!

But, I know that’s always easier said than done, so I’ll give a few suggestions to help you out. 

1.       Take that Trip… even if it’s a staycation!

Baby, make sure you enjoy the beautiful weather we will receive these next few months. There is no reason you should not be taking a little mini-vacation. After the last two years we have had, you deserve it! Even if it’s only for 48 hours and in the same town you live in, take that break! Your job will be okay!

Choose a location that works for your budget and baby ball out! Take your friends, go by yourself, your partner, or your pet, and enjoy yourself! The world is your oyster, and therefore, you should explore it! 

2.       Go out with friends! 

I know we get busy being Independent Grown Women, but set aside a little time for those you care for daily or weekly. Even if it’s only a few hours, make sure you give time to those who give time to you! Not only does it ensure reciprocity in your relationships, but it also allows you to have fun! And, Summer 2022 is all about living our most Fun, Independent Grown Women’s lives!

Go out to eat with a friend, see a movie, attend a function, go wine tasting, or try something you’ve never done before! But make sure it’s with someone you know you can let your hair down with and will help make your turn-up even more fun!

3.       Network!

Chile, I am not great at networking. But, this summer, I plan on stepping out of my own way and meeting new people, whether networking for IHateAdulthood or just the Jadis brand! And, you should do the same! Take time to connect with other like-minded people, even those with different opinions. It helps you grow and gives you new perspectives, which can inspire you for something better! 

See what others have been doing during the pandemic, network your ideas, and take that business, plan, or career to the next level! Because the sky is the limit, you’re an Independent Grown Woman who doesn’t deserve anything less than greatness! 

4.      Be Confident!

Girl, this summer is your season, so don’t be shy to let others know you’re the one and not the two! You are a boss, killing this game called life, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! So, show up as the woman you are, you want to be, and are becoming! Enter each room with your head held high, and don’t let anyone dim your light!

Take risks, be bold, because baby, you’re ICONIC! And, this summer is your moment to show others and remind yourself of the boss you have always been! So, grab your cutest outfit, check in with yourself, take yourself out, and never leave your confidence at home again! Because it’s giving Confident Independent Grown Woman Vibes, and you’re already slaying the competition (metaphorically).

5.       Show Up Everywhere as Your Authentic Self!

I know often we have to hide behind masks we wear to work and even to make others happy. But, in this new season, we aren’t doing that anymore! We are giving authenticity at all times and showing up transparent, open, and humble!  

As Tina Snow said, “Being a Hot Girl is about being unapologetically you, having fun, being confident, living your truth, and being the life of the party.” Being an Independent Grown Black Woman is doing the same while always serving boss vibes!

So, show up as you authentically are, and don’t worry if others don’t like it! They have no choice but to accept who you are, or they will have to get to stepping!

6.      And, Finally, Take this Summer to Work on Yourself!

During Independent Grown Woman Summer, it is vital for your success and elevation that you take time to improve yourself and your craft! You, your business, your dreams, and your peace matter! Therefore, take time to work on yourself!

Read books, journal, go to the gym, apply for a new job, try fresh foods, and explore whatever contributes to your well-being and happiness! No judgment, do you, sis! Make yourself happy! Take time to pop out and show out for yourself! 

But most importantly, work on improving yourself so that your next chapter of Independent Grown Woman Fall is your best yet!
